Aiming to spread STEM to our local elementary schools, Full STEAM Ahead is a day camp dedicated to providing lessons to 3rd - 5th graders in our local area. With simple STEM lessons designed by use, we provide easy opportunities for campers to be introduced to STEM and provide a passion in it.
Our lessons include the creation of pneumatic rockets, 3D printing custom trinkets, and more!
Full STEAM Ahead is a day camp hosted in late April/early May annually. It will be after school, typically from 4 - 7:30 PM, at West Linn High School.
Transportation to the event will not be provided.
Changing the SySTEM is a 1-2 week long camp dedicated to providing STEM to middle school girls or non-male identifying individuals. We ensure that this camp is completely free, resources coming out of our pocket, to ensure it's as accessible as possible. Lessons, fully designed by us, include the creation of rockets (and a rocket launch day!), Python, and the creation of basic robots.
Furthermore, dedicated to our efforts of spreading STEM, we've standardized this camp, providing all of our resources online, free for other teams and organizations to use. Find more information at changingthesystem.net.
Changing the SySTEM is a 1-2 week long camp (days either consecutive or sporadic) in Fall. It is typically from 4 - 7:30 PM, at West Linn High School, on set days. The rocket launch is typically the Saturday after camp at Mary S Young around 12 PM.
Our Summer of STEAM Camp was created for incoming 8th and 9th graders to introduce them to our robotics team and provide them familiar faces when they enter high school. This is our highest level of camp, featuring higher-level lessons like 3D printing/lasercutting, Arduinos (electrical wiring), and the creating/testing of Pneumatic rocket designs. Within recent years, we've also implemented a lesson featuring the development of a completely custom GoBilda robot, which camper teams will use to compete in a completely customized game against other teams on the last day of camp.
Summer of STEAM is a week long camp during the summer, typically on moratorium week in Oregon. It is Monday through Friday from 9 AM - 12 PM at West Linn High School.
Please reach us at wlhsfrc@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
If there is no camp that your child is applicable to, there is unfortunately no camps your child can attend.
However, there are other ways for your student to become involved with STEM, including Drive a Robot Day, visiting any of our booths (Old Time Fair, Wednesday Market, etc.), and requesting to visit our lab for a tour! To do that, contact us at wlhsfrc@gmail.com.
We receive payment through 3 options:
To attend any paid camp, payment must be complete at least a week ahead in time.
Only two of our camps, Full STEAM Ahead and Summer of STEAM require payment to attend. Anything paid by campers gets fully invested back into running our series of camps and do not contribute toward our team profit.
Unfortunately, we cannot provide registration fee waivers as our funding gets invested directly back into our camp.
Only our Changing the SySTEM camp is free.
Unfortunately, we can only issue refunds for paid camps, as long as it is requested a week prior to camp. Thank you for your understanding!
All of our camps are located at West Linn High School, unless specified otherwise.
Sign in/sign out will typically be at the front school entrance. If otherwise, there will be detailed information sent out, and also guiding signs for the entrance to camp.
If you have follow up questions, please contact us.
Unfortunately we cannot provide transportation to the camp. Campers may show up a little late if they need to be transported to camp.
All information about the camp can be found on the Google Form in which you signed your child up. If you cannot find the information you need there or in this FAQ, please contact us at wllhsfrc@gmail.com
We do not provide meals, however, we do provide snacks for our Full STEAM Ahead and Changing the SySTEM camps as they extend over a typical meal time.
Please ensure your child eats prior to Summer of STEAM as there is no food provided.
Your child may miss a day of camp, as long as it is communicated beforehand. Refunds for specific days will not be issued for paid camps.
Your child may arrive late to camp, as long as it is communicated beforehand. Please provide a time and a staff member will wait outside to receive your camper.
You can pick up your child early, but you must communicate when you are picking your child up. Then, a staff member will walk your child to the sign in/sign out location. Please be punctual when picking up your child as our staff member needs to return to continuing camp duties.
You child should be placed within a group according to whoever was requested to be in the same group as your child.
After group decisions have been finalized and camp has begun, switches between groups will not be permitted as they interfere with our lesson schedule.
